Message from the RVA CEO Jane Holdsworth

It is with great pleasure and pride that I am able to introduce the inaugural 2009 RVA National Business Excellence Awards. The awards will recognise, celebrate and promote the outstanding achievements of retirement village operators, developers and businesses providing services to the retirement village industry.

The RVA National Business Excellence Awards are the first of their kind in Australia and have been created to recognise and encourage industry excellence in all facets of retirement village operations. The RVA has recognised that the high level of excellence within the retirement village industry has gone unnoticed for too long. As a result, we want to acknowledge, promote and reward villages and businesses through excellence of service, commitment to their residents and ethical practices and behaviour.

The RVA National Business Excellence Awards are open to all RVA members. Finalists and winners will be presented with a trophy and certificate and deservedly share in many benefits that these prestigious awards will provide. Award recipients will be presented with the opportunities to:

The RVA National Business Excellence Awards will set high standards for developers, managers of retirement villages and organisations providing services to the retirement village industry in Australia. They will encourage innovation, business best practice and leadership.

Winners of the 2009 RVA National Business Excellence Awards will be announced at a formal black tie gala evening to be held in Melbourne on Friday June 12 2009.

Category 1:  Excellence in Design

Category 1.1:
Excellence in design of a retirement village

Category 1.2:
Excellence in design of a retirement village - new development less than 3 years old

Category 1.3:
Excellence in design of a refurbishment of a retirement village

Category 1.4:
Excellence in landscape design of a retirement village

Category 2:  Excellence in Sustainability

Category 2.1:
Excellence in water resource management in a retirement village

Category 2.2:
Excellence in energy and resource efficiency in a retirement village

Category 2.3:
Excellence in best practices in sustainability

Category 3:  Excellence in Business Practice

Category 3.1:
Excellence in marketing and promotion of a retirement village

Category 3.2:
Excellence in training/professional development

Category 3.3:
Excellence in best business practice within a village including: planning; quality management; financial management; OHS; risk Management. (Entrants villages must be accredited)

Category 4:  Excellence in Innovation

Excellence in innovation for or in a retirement village of a:

Category 5: Excellence in Providing a Service or Product
Excellence in providing a product and/or service to the retirement village industry

Category 6: Excellence in Customer Service
Excellence in customer service within a village

Category 7: Longevity in Business Award:
This award will recognise those businesses that have been operating and providing retirement village services continuously for 20 years or more by the same owner.

Category 8: Individual Award – Outstanding ContributionIndividual award for outstanding contribution to the promotion of the retirement village industry

Entrance Fee 

A non-refundable entrance fee of $175 per category. 

Pricing is GST inclusive.

Awards Presentation Evening

Winners of the 2009 RVA National Business Excellence Awards will be announced at a formal black tie gala evening to be held in Melbourne on Friday June 12 2009.
